The Essential Rhett and Link Starter Pack

From the 1000th GMM Episode, Rhett (Left) and Link (Right)

Today’s blog post is going to be about my favourite YouTube duo, Rhett and Link.

In order to enjoy this blog post, you will need:

  • A sense of humour
  • Access to YouTube
  • Time to kill (actually, this isn’t necessary, but this WILL consume your time)
  • To channel your inner mythical beast
  • To appreciate the weird and wonderful

For those of you who may not know, Rhett and Link are ‘Internetainers’ predominantly based on YouTube. They are best known for their daily talk show, Good Mythical Morning, which is currently running its tenth season and recently surpassed 1000 episodes over the 4 1/2 years in which it has run.

A Day In Dorset | Photography

Today, whilst we were travelling home from my grandma’s house (which explains my absence online between today and Wednesday) my dad decided to take my sister and me on a trip to Dorset, to see some of the geography there. I have a keen interest in geography and have been looking forward to Geography A-Level (and possibly studying it at university, too!) so this trip was particularly exciting!

I just wanted to share some of the photos with you, in particular, the panoramas I was able to take of the places with my phone. I am currently in love with the panorama feature on my phone because I can take the COOLEST photos of wide scenes. Let me know what you think, anyway!

Better Than Them: A Song

Here is a song that I wrote last year. I wanted to share it with you guys. I hope you enjoy ❤

‘Better Than Them’

I don’t think you made the right choice,

Didn’t even let your people have a voice,

Say you’re doing this for the greater good,

Decided to kill another just because you could.

All of those innocent lives lost,

So you could protect yourselves, but at what cost?

Seems you don’t take a moment just to think of what you’re doing.

You can’t change this,

You can’t turn back time,

This will haunt you forever.

Steal away a future to protect your own and mine,

It will never make you any better…than them.

I won’t say I’m proud of what you did,

I’ll be mourning all of those lost instead,

And hoping maybe one day that you’ll see the light.

And every one of those broken hearts,

A million and one lives torn apart,

And haunted by the terrors of their past.

After all of this time,

Did you think that committing a crime,

Would finally set them free?

You’re wrong – you’ve locked us in; you turned the key.

You can’t change this,

You can’t turn back time,

This will haunt you forever.

Steal away a future to protect your own and mine,

It will never make you any better…than them.

Sat home at night with head in hands,

Wondering how you ever thought up this plan.

You’ll understand in the end that nobody has won,

Finally, see that it’s not our game to play,

We were better off leaving it that way,

But thanks to you, the damage has been done.

You can’t change this,

You can’t turn back time,

This will haunt you forever.

Steal away a future to protect your own and mine,

It will never make you any better…than them

Romantic Comedies You Need To Watch #1

and it goes a littlesomething like this.png

Here are some of my favourite romantic comedies that I think everyone (yes, including males!) should watch! I think I will be splitting this up into a few little parts in the weeks to come 🙂 If you’ve seen any of these before, please feel free to share your thoughts; I would love to hear them! ❤

He’s Just Not That Into You

Starring: Ginnifer Goodwin, Justin Long, Kevin Connolly, Drew Barrymore, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johanssen, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston & Jennifer Connelly

Synopsis: The film centres around the character of Gigi (Goodwin) and her searching for the perfect man in spite of a long line of unsuccessful dates. She is set up on a date with real estate agent Conor (Connolly) Barry. The date is fairly average, but Gigi becomes obsessed with waiting for the callback from Conor.

Meanwhile, Conor is infatuated with Anna (Johanssen) and starting a serious relationship with her. However, she is not interested.

Janine (Connelly) and Beth (Aniston) work in the same office as Gigi. They convince her that Conor will call back and that one day she will be in a happy relationship with him, in spite of the apparent lack of interest at the time.

One day in a bar, Gigi meets Alex (Long), an attractive barman who guides her through the signs and how to tell whether or not a guy likes her. But what if the person teaching you how to read the signs doesn’t know them himself?

Janine married her college sweetheart, Ben (Cooper). She offered him an ultimatum, marry her or break-up. He chose marriage but begins to regret this choice as she starts to plan their future.

When Ben meets Anna in the grocery line, they feel an immediate connection – could it turn into something more?

Beth’s boyfriend is Neil (Affleck), a friend of Ben’s. They have been together seven years, and Beth has been wondering for 5 of those why Neil won’t marry her. He says he doesn’t believe in marriage – does he really love her?

And finally, Mary (Barrymore) and friend of Anna’s. Mary has been looking for love from the word ‘GO’. She is testing the waters with online dating, but is the person behind the screen to be trusted?

Whose relationships will stand the test? Will Gigi finally read the signs? :0

Why you should watch it: This is no ordinary rom-com! Anyone can learn something from this film and everyone can gain something having seen it. It teaches you that you don’t necessarily need a storybook ending. Sometimes your ending may be different from the typical trope found in books and movies, but it’s right for YOU. And also to enjoy the film, of course. With an all-star cast and an amazing soundtrack, why wouldn’t you?

Favourite Line: ‘You are my exception.’ ❤

And if that wasn’t enough to convince you, I hope this is:

About Time

Starring: Domnhall Gleeson, Rachel McAdams, Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander & Margaret Robbie

Synopsis: On his 21st birthday, Tim Lake discovers that the men in his family line all have a special ability; to travel through time. There is one condition: they can only travel to places and times that they have been to before.

After a disastrous (repeated) summer trying to attract his sister’s friend, Charlotte, he realises that should move on and pursue his career as a lawyer.

One day, he meets a young woman called Mary in a blind French restaurant. They get along very well and exchange numbers; but after using his powers to save a friend’s performance, he discovers her number erased from his phone, because due to him changing his whereabouts, they had not met yet.

Therefore, he has to find a way to meet Mary again, under different circumstances, and win her heart. But does it really make life any easier when you can always have a do-over? And when Tim is faced with the hardest decision of his life, what will he do?

Why you should watch it: This film helps you to appreciate life, to live in the moment and to learn to live life without regret. It also asks the moral question: ‘If I could change the past, would I?’ I think this is so interesting, because arguably, if we hadn’t have made difficult decisions and mistakes, we may not be where we are today, surrounded by those we love and care about. ❤ And of course, the acting is brilliant. It was a real tear-jerker 😥

Favourite Line: ‘We’re all travelling through time together, every day of our lives. All we can do is do our best to relish this remarkable ride.’

Blooper Reel:

I hope you enjoyed this, let me know in the comments if you would like me to do more romantic comedy recommendations!

Thinking Of You // Travel Tuesday

Everybody should read this! ❤ It is so beautiful and well written. I sobbed reading it 😥 Really got to my heart, and it makes em grateful that people are still making the written word something that hits you right there! ❤

Sunshine In Wanderland

I´d like to share a little poem with you. It´s very personal…this is what I felt when I was in Le Cap D’Agde. The last verses are new mixing in current emotions. The whole thing is lighened up with wonderful photos of Cap D’Agde. This way you can think yourselves into me sitting there…thinking…

Thinking of you,
sitting here,
on the rocks,
the sun stroking me gently,
like you once did.

Thinking of you,
Oh, how I miss you,
looking out at the sea,
trying to guess what´s behind the horizon,
eyes wandering, to the mountains and back.

Thinking of you,
your eyes,
my gaze lost in the molecules of the water,
stretched so wide and powerful,
beyond my sight.

Thinking of you,
so far away,
miles stretched between us,
I should have left thoughts behind,
I should have left you behind
but still I´m

Thinking of you,
out here, marvelling at…

The Daily Prompt: Volunteer

I decided today that I would take part in WordPress’ Daily Prompt, which is Volunteer.

The link is here!

Today’s prompt actually resonates with me today, because when I was dropping off some books to the Kids’ Emporium (Cancer Research UK Charity Shop for Kids) this afternoon, I started thinking about how I could give back to society through charities in other ways.

Having done the Race for Life (5K) in 2012 with my cousin and sister, and various other fun runs since then, I decided I would like to do something a bit different from what I have done before.

My Race For Life Medal

Last year, some friends of mine organised a fashion show, held in my school’s hall one Friday evening, to raise some money and awareness for Breast Cancer. This cause was very close to my heart. ❤ They asked me to be a model which was a truly thrilling experience, and I was so glad to be part of it. Something about raising money for a worthy cause is so wonderful and fills you up with warmth and happiness ❤ 😀

Now it’s my turn to make a difference in little ways. As if by magic, my opportunity appeared. I looked in the window in one of the local charity shops, and there was a sign that read: ‘Help! Volunteers needed. Pop in for a chat.’

I saw this as a calling. Although I have not yet been inside, as I was in a rush, I know that when I next go into town, I will be applying to help out there on the weekend. I am very excited about all the good that can come from me volunteering, the lives that I can save in helping out at the shop that helps to pay for that life-changing research. Furthermore, I will be able to get some work experience and be able to gauge what managing studying alongside a weekend job will be like.

So, what do you think about this exciting new chapter?

The Reader’s Playlist (Tag)

I have always been interested in creating original content for my blog, so I thought – what better way to do this than to create my own tag? I have very recently started using Canva to design my graphics (it’s absolutely brilliant, I thoroughly recommend!) and designed that I would create a little logo for my tag. The whole idea stemmed from the fact that I love to read and listen to music, two things that I feel have a very strong and similar relationship.

At the bottom of my recent 50 followers post, I asked my followers to suggest some ideas that I could put into the tag, combining them with my own. I have been absolutely overflowing with ideas, so many that I think I’m going to have to split this up into 3 parts. I will be crediting any suggestions that I was given with links to the blogs of these wonderful people.

I’m going to provide my own examples as a little guide and inspiration next to the questions.

I really hope you enjoy this tag because I have worked for HOURS on perfecting it!

The Rules

  • Answer as many or as few questions that you like. I suggest if you want to attempt them all that you turn it into a few daily/weekly posts, probably organised as I have. Make sure you have fun with it!
  • Thank the person who nominated you and leave a link to their post.
  • Leave a link to my post so that others can see all of the questions! 🙂
  • Tag the post with the tagline ‘The Reader’s Playlist Tag’ so that I can see all of your lovely posts! ❤
  • Use the logo as above in your post if you want! However, I ask that you don’t modify it, please!
  • Tag a few friends to take part in the tag at the bottom of your post! 😀
  • Feel free to leave a link in my comments to your own responses. I look forward to reading them!

A BIG Thank You! 50+ Followers

Today had been a pretty tough day: I had double Geography (including test results and controlled assessment), followed by THREE maths mock exam papers. Although I am quite strong at maths and enjoy it, this was not necessarily what I wanted to be doing on a Friday of all days.

I quickly looked at my WordPress on my way out of school after my final exam – and there it was: 50 followers! 😄😮🎉 It made me realise how far I have come since my first blog post. Bear in mind, this was only written in June!

Thank you so much to every single one of my followers – your support means everything and I love how I have been welcomed into the blogging community with truly open arms. 😄 I have to say that this day has truly been sneaking up on me, it was such a LOVELY surprise to discover that so many people with their blogs, all over the world, have decided to follow my ramblings on my blog 😀 It has truly made my day, so thank you again to all! ❤️🎉🎉

I love reading all of your blogs and interacting on those as well – you are all truly talented. It always makes my day to read your beautiful posts, to become friends with you, and indeed, learn from your blogs. Thank you to anyone who has tagged me to do challenges and nominated me for awards, it makes me feel truly appreciated. ❤️

Thank you for everyone who attended Steph J‘s Fall Feeling Party on her blog. It was an excellent experience for me, and I’m sure you’ll all agree it has helped us all to find each other and integrate into the community here! 🙂 I think I speak for us all when I say we look forward to the Christmas party! 🎄🎅🎉😄

I would like all of my followers to get to know each other because there are some truly talented people behind the blogs that follow my own. Please check out all of these blogs if you haven’t already, they are AWESOME! 💪I’m going to give you all shoutouts below, followed by a little announcement:

My little announcement is that I am planning on creating a new tag – I’m planning on calling it ‘The Reader’s Playlist’. Basically, I’m going to have categories, for example:

Tears: Books and songs that made you cry your eyes out

I would love any suggestions that you guys have for categories (things that relate to books and music) to be in the comments. I will credit any suggestions I use, of course 🙂 ❤ I also need you to comment whether you like my logo as it is below, or whether you think I should use a different colour/re-design it!

Anyway, thank you all again! I look forward to continuing to make you all smile 😀

Secret Life of a Book Blogger (Tag)

I was tagged by the lovely Megan @ bookslayerReads to do this tag! Megan’s blog is so bright and colourful and just wonderful. She just received 500 followers which she thoroughly deserves – please go and check her blog out if you can, it is well worth it, especially for the obsessive book lover like me! ❤  She has some really awesome posts and has new things planned for the future of her blog! I wish you all the best, Megan 🙂

Let’s get into the tag questions! ❤

The Secret Life of a Book Blogger (Tag)

My favourite part of blogging I think is the experience of crafting something and pouring effort into something, then to get such a lovely response from the blogging community. It really does make me smile to know that people agree with my thoughts, or that my work made someone smile today. That’s what it’s all about for me. 😀

Another element I love is the fact that in 10 years I can look back on all my blogs and remember those key dates in detail – but I can also see how far I have progressed and grown – it’s like a diary for all to share and enjoy! 🙂 My little labour of love ❤

Possibly the fact that I just don’t have the necessary time to do all that I want with blogging. I wish I had enough time to take more photos and edit and make little videos but this year has been busy. I just haven’t been able to, and it makes me sad sometimes. 😦

I have just started using a website called Canva to design headings for my blog posts, but normally I will use some photos of my own for posts, as I tend to have stocked up a lot of photos that are related to what I post on my camera or phone. Sometimes I have to prepare some new pictures, but generally, that does not take too long, just set up, capturing the picture then editing it.

A typical stocked up book picture:

Book Stack (Taken from my Instagram

This is literally one of the hardest questions you could ever ask me! I literally cannot choose one! I did a Bookstagram Post about which literary boys I would Kiss, Kill & Marry, so I think I might include the (very lengthy) caption and the photo below to explain! ❤

Taken from Instagram:

Day 19 of 31: Kiss 😘 Kill🔫 Marry 💍 I couldn’t choose between all the literary guys, so I picked two for each category 😂 I would like to marry Four of Divergent but Tris would definitely beat me up so I chose to kiss and run 😂 I would kiss Oliver of TSPOLAFS because he IS extremely sweet, but due to the short length of the book and also the minuses of long distance, I would have to settle with kiss 😂😘 I would kill Gale (not Peeta ❤) of the Hunger Games, because firstly, nothing gets in the way of my ship, and secondly, he is quite self-centred – one of the worst traits possible in my books! I would also kill Adam from If I stay because he is one of the most unromantic, unnerving fictional boyfriends. I know people will hate this – but I didn’t like the book and I didn’t like Adam 👎🏻 I love the idea of a musical guy but he just didn’t attract me 🎶😞 Next, I would marry Harry Potter – because why on earth wouldn’t you?? He’s smart, he’s a wizard, he’s funny and he’s sensitive!!! 😍❤✨ I would also marry Jase Garrett from My Life Next Door because he is upfront and honest, helpful, romantic, funny and not a bad guy with good heart! He is exactly what you see, you can take him at face value (as he always says 😉) ✨❤

Kiss, Kill & Marry
