My 1 Year Blogging Anniversary!! + Q&A

It’s my blog’s 1st birthday!ย ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ†

Whilst I made this WordPress account over 1 year ago, I only really started using this blog on Saturday 18th June 2016, writing about my Work Experience with the local town council. So much has changed since then and I am truly blessed to have been on this wonderful blogging journeyย ๐Ÿ˜โ˜บ๏ธ

Let’s go through some of my blogging numbers…

The total number of views that posts on my blog have had since I began blogging. I cannot believe my posts have been read and viewed over 4000 times!ย ๐Ÿ‘

The total number of visitors I’ve had to my site! This is absolutely staggering!ย ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

This is how many views I received in my most viewed blogging month of October 2016. This was the month that the blog really started taking off and I realised that blogging was going to become a more permanent feature in my day to day life.ย ๐Ÿ‘

This is the number of followers (WordPress and email) I have at the current time! I am so grateful for the support I have received from every single one of you!ย ๐Ÿ™Œ

The total number of likes I received on my most liked post, ‘What I’ve learned from travelling.‘ I must say that this post was one of my favourite ones to write, and clearly many of you though so tooย ๐Ÿ˜‰โญ๏ธ

64 ย

This is the number of blog posts that I have made in this year (counting this one). It’s insane, especially considering how few posts I’ve published during my GCSEs that I’ve managed to surpass an average of a post per week.ย ๐Ÿ˜…

The number of countries that people have been reading my blog from. Numbers like this leave me speechless! Shoutout to all of my international readers (outside the UK!)ย ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐ŸŒ

The largest number of comments that I have on one given post, A BIG Thank You! 50+ Followers’ which was a post written to record my first milestone on WordPress. That day was so incredible and I continue to feel the joy today of knowing that so many people appreciate my ramblings!ย ๐Ÿค—

The number of blog award nominations I have received. I’m one lucky girl and truly blessed to get this kind of recognition from other bloggers. I’m humbled by these kind gestures and very grateful that these awards allow me to recognise other bloggers for their achievements.ย ๐Ÿ…

The number of blog post ideas/half written posts just sat in my ‘Drafts’ box right now. All of them have been in there so long I may well need to completely upcycle the content.ย ๐Ÿ”„

The family that I have in blogging. We are one community and I wouldn’t change any of you for the world. It is your positivity and encouragement that has kept me going throughout this year ๐Ÿ™‚

I seriously cannot thank you enough. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me such an incredible, positive experience.

Wacky Search Terms

Here are some strange search terms that have lead people to my blog:

‘Audrey Hepburn’ – People have visited my blog because of having searched for Audrey Hepburn? She is absolutely stunning and very talented but I doubt I have ever mentioned her within my blogย ๐Ÿ˜‚

‘Please get me a glass of juice question tag’ – Um, what? ๐Ÿ˜‚ย If this is a legitimate question tag please let me know, but I have no clue how anyone ended up on my blog this way in any caseย ๐Ÿ˜‚

‘my grades’ This probably has something to do with My Mock Exam Results Post but it’s still surprising that someone managed to get referred to my blog in amongst the many other ‘my grades’ search resultsย ๐Ÿค”

And on that note, we now move onto the Q&A section…

I’ve been asked lots of lovely questions by some of my followers – thank you for all of your submissions! Please go and follow all of these amazing people because their blogs are even more insanely good than their questions!ย ๐Ÿ˜„

I received four lovely questions from the wonderful Tabi, all of which I am going to answer, simply because they were extremely well thought out!ย ๐Ÿป

1. Would you rather not be able to blog, but read other people’s content, OR be able to blog and not read and socialise with other people’s content?

Hmm… I think this is a tough one, but I have let myself think about it for a long time, and I’ve decided I would rather not be able to blog! I would very much prefer to read other people’s blog posts and share my ideas on them in their comments (provided that’s okay) because then I could still make friends in the same way that I have been blessed enough to on here. You guys are too valuable to lose and if I couldn’t socialise with the content of others it would make blogging feel lonelyย ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’ž

2. What is the thing you’re most proud of doing this year?

Surviving my GCSE exams. Boy has it been tough, but I finish next week – only 3 exams left out of the 23! I just want to make myself and my family proud come August when I get my resultsย ๐Ÿ˜Œ

3. What is your favourite snack? Sweet or savoury?

I’m quite a snacky person in general! I think I’m more of a sweet girl (kind of always have been) and my ideal sweet snack would probably be strawberry pencils๐Ÿ“(or blue raspberry ones, which are so good!) or marshmallows. In terms of savoury, I love salted tortilla chips and pretzels!ย ๐Ÿ˜‹

4. Do you have a secret hobby or talent we don’t know about?

Well, I’ve already mentioned art, writing poetry, all of the musical stuff and public speaking, so I guess that doesn’t leave much else to say. I’m quite good at Sudoku, Scrabble and Rummikub, so I guess that counts as hobbiesย ๐Ÿ•ต

Sarah @Between the Pagesย

Sarah sent me these lovely questions to answer, which I believe to be quite open ended which I like a lotย ๐Ÿ“–

1. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

Dinner. Some of my favourite experiences with family and friends have been getting together, dressed up nicely and catching up over dinnerย โค๏ธย Also, the Last Supper was an evening meal, so that’s another reason for youย ๐Ÿ˜‰

2. How did you end up starting this fabulous blog of yours?

Firstly, thank you so much for that compliment! You guys have no idea how much you make me smileย ๐Ÿ˜Œย I had a friend who was into blogging (my wonderful German friend Frederike, you can find her blog here) and I decided to start up an account to read her posts and some others. Then I just decided to start setting up a blog as a bit of a summer project and just to see what I could do with it. I read so many online manuals and watched instructional videos to help me learn how to develop my blog and understand how to use WordPress better. I just wanted to write about things I was passionate about and to share my photography with people. I never expected it to grow like this; it’s been one of the greatest surprises I’ve ever had. Like Mia says in La La Land: “People love what other people are passionate about.”ย โค๏ธ

Sophie Samantha

Sophie Samantha was one of my very first followers, following me before my blog ever took offย ๐Ÿ˜€ย Thank you for being there through it all and for providing this question for me to answerย ๐ŸŒบ

1. What’s your favourite part of blogging?

My favourite part of blogging is interacting with other bloggers in the comments to see what they think about my posts. I love discussing things and making new friends over things I’ve written. I also adore researching stuff for posts.ย I think I’m a bit of a knowledge hoarder as I just love to learn everything I can about a topic I’m writing about.ย ๐Ÿ˜‚

Jainey of Harmonious Joyย

Thank you, Jainey for these 5 questions! I’ll do my best to answer them!

1. Do you like games?ย

I do enjoy playing board games with my grandma and video games with my sister. I think it’s a good way to get competitive and bond with family members.

2. How would you describe your relationship with chocolate?

My relationship with chocolate is that chocolate rarely exists for more than three seconds when I’m around it. I am in love with chocolate.ย ๐Ÿซ

3. Are you nocturnal or a day person?

Probably nocturnal. I am the kind of person who gets good ideas later on in the day. Although I do get up quite early as well, so there is thatย ๐ŸŒš

4. Will you teach me to bake by putting up baking videos in the near future?

I think it unlikely that anyone would watch baking videos by me, especially since my recipe book is rather limited in terms of what I can make. ๐Ÿ˜‚ย It is however, a possibility in the future that I may do a baking video or two sometime in the future if lots of people would like that ๐Ÿ™‚ In the meanwhile, I suggest you follow one of the many wonderful baking and cooking blogs that can be found across WordPress or watch some YouTubers such as My Cupcake Addiction, Todd’s Kitchen, Simple Cooking Channel, How To Cake It or Cookies, Cupcakes and Cardio. All are wonderfulย ๐Ÿฐ

5. What’s your best skill?

My best skill is probably my ability to use my voice. I’m quite a vocal person when I sense injustice, but I also use my voice for Public Speaking, one of my main hobbies and also for singing. I love using my voice and I can hardly imagine my life without the ability to sing or to speak up.

And that was the end of the questions!

I hope you all enjoyed reading this post. Whether you’ve been following my blog for a long time or have only just discovered it, I want to thank you so so much. I am blessed to be part of this community. Love always.ย ๐Ÿ˜˜

I loved reading your answer to my question (and of course all the other answers you gave). I completely agreeing comments and talking to other bloggers in general is one of the best things about blogging.
There’s definitely been points over the last couple of years, that if I didn’t have my blog I would have felt so lonely. And for that I’ll always be grateful.

I feel so honoured to have been one of your first followers because I just love your blog. I’m so happy to see how far you’ve come and that I’ve been able to continually read up on how you and your blog are constantly growing.
    Lots of love X

I’m glad you enjoyed it! It’s honestly great to know that there are people here who won’t judge you and lift you up with a few kind words. It’s people like you who were the catalyst to keep going – you were my first follower who I didn’t actually know before blogging ๐Ÿ™‚ I will always be grateful too โค

That is honestly so so sweet of you. You have been lovely since day one and words cannot express how much I want to thank you for the support! I love reading your blog too, it was honestly a great inspiration to me, having someone so similar to my own age who has documented so many of the things that I'm going through right now. For that I cannot express my gratitude.

      Lots of love, Hannah X

Oh Hannah, you make me speechless! When I came to England, I had no idea of how much impact this time will have on me nor did I ever dare to dream that this here was about to happen! I never thought I would leave something in England and when I started working at your school, I thought it would be the biggest gift of all if I only infected one person with my passion for theatre, if I only inspired a single person, because this might actually have become my calling, what’s driving me and making me the happiest person in the world! So, seeing all of this happening makes me incredibly happy and I feel very lucky that I got the honour to work with you! Thank you so much! ๐Ÿ™‚

This is so wonderful to read. It was absolutely amazing to have you at the school and working with us on the show. We’re doing Annie this year, and provided I’m still at the same place next year I’m in the show ๐Ÿ™‚ You’ve no idea how much impact you have had – your positivity constantly motivating me and encouraging me to chase my blogging goals and dreams ๐Ÿ™‚ And anyone who takes anything away from my blog has to owe some credit to you, as without, this blog would not exist!

We’re thinking of doing a trip to Germany next year and it would be amazing if we could arrange something a bit closer to the time! You’re most welcome and thank you always.

Sending joy, laughter and love your way from (boiling hot) England! ๐Ÿ™‚ Eternally grateful and love always – Hannah xxx โค

Oh, I bet this will be an amazing show, too! If you see Miss McAughtry, please, send her some lovely greetings from me! ๐Ÿ˜‰
And please, let me know when you'll be where in Germany! But as I am planning on visiting England in the summer, we might see each other in Torquay before?! We'll see ๐Ÿ™‚
As always, lots of love, light and positive energy! Frederike xxx

Hi Hannah! ๐Ÿ˜ Happy One Year Blogging Anniversary! ๐Ÿ˜€ I enjoyed reading the questions and answers. I wanted to send you a question, but I couldn’t think of one. I can’t wait to see what your next year has in store for your blog! โค

Haha, I guess I’m one of your international readers! (From the U.S.)

“Please get me a glass of juice question tag” – I laughed so hard at that one. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I love the randomness of that.

What is a strawberry pencil? Haha, I’m literally thinking of a red coloring pencil that you eat. ๐Ÿ˜‚

My blog started the same way, in that several of my friends had blogs already; I really wanted to join in the fun and be able to officially like their posts! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Grace! ๐Ÿ˜€ Thank you so much! โค I'm glad you enjoyed and it's okay ๐Ÿ™‚ Many new things I hope, I have a few plans up my sleeve! โค

Woo! I have more readers in the US than in the UK actually ๐Ÿ˜‚

So strange, isn't it! I half feel tempted to make a question tag of that very name ๐Ÿ˜‚

A strawberry pencil is like a long stick of white fondant wrapped in strawberry licorice (which is much nicer than actual licorice in my opinion). It's really tasty ๐Ÿ˜‚

And that's so cool, that we had similar beginnings! It's always great, when you have friends on here already to support you and cheer you on throughout the growth of your blog! ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

        Wow, that’s cool! XD

Yeah; haha, then it would make sense that people find your blog because of it! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ooohhh, i see. That would be much tastier than the pencil I had in my mind. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I like licorice, so I’d probably love that too!

Yeah, it is! ๐Ÿ˜€ And it’s nice to then meet new friends through the WordPress platform! ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

Yes it was peculiar, definitely. ๐Ÿ˜ณ I could read all of it except for the attachment to it. Would you be okay with me forwarding it to you? I think I still have your email from when you did that awesome Valentine’s Day post. Then you can see what I see. ๐Ÿ™‚ Your blog isn’t the only one; I’ve noticed that several blogs I’ve subscribed to via email have sent me posts that don’t yet exist, and some are never published, which is awkward because then I’m not sure if it was intended for me to read it or not… in this case, it sent me the email on the 20th. o_O

                I shall! ๐Ÿ˜€
