I feel like I am constantly apologising for my lack of posts, but with studying it is just too hard to juggle this with everything in my life! 😦 I hope you understand, just to put it into context, I’m currently on Easter Break, but still attending school during some week days – I’m just that busy! 😦 But thanks for being there for me when I need you guys! Ann’s Reading Corner! I’m sure you all know who she is by now, but if not, go check out her blog because her content is amazing and she is super friendly!

I was nominated by the lovely Ann of Ann’s Reading Corner! I love her blog so much, and she is absolutely lovely, so go and click that link and check out her posts! 🙂 She also celebrated her 2 Year Blog Anniversary today, so huge congratulations to her, and I hope for many years more of her blog! 😀
As 2016 draws to a close, and 2017 is on the horizon, I figured it would be a good idea to do a survey of the books I have read over this year.
I got the idea for this tag from my friend Ann from Ann’s Reading Corner, so thank you, Ann! ❤
The tag was created by The Perpetual Page Turner, be sure to check out her blog 🙂
Hey, guys! I was recently nominated by notsomoderngirl to do the Autumn Activities Book Tag, and considering Autumn is technically over 😦 I wanted to make this tag as soon as possible! This is going to be so much fun! ❤ 😀
Apple Picking- a book on your ‘to be read’ list that you can’t wait to take a bite out of!
Hmmm… well, considering I have a TBR list that is as long as my arm, this is such a tough question! However, I think I’m going to have to say ‘The List’ by Siobhan Vivian because it seems like a book that I’m really going to be consumed by and enjoy! The book is essentially about a high school, and every year a list is posted and on it are 8 girls: the prettiest and the ugliest in each year group. The book basically deals with how the 8 girls cope in the aftermath and also trying to determine who writes the list and why. What shocked me the most is that this book is based on a true story 😮 It’s currently sitting in my bookcase, waiting to be read! 😀 Fingers crossed ❤
Corn Maze- a book that’s so much fun to get lost in!
This probably sounds really cliché or something, but when I read Divergent by Veronica Roth, I completely immerse myself in the action of the book. I often cite Divergent and The Hunger Games as the two series that really got me into reading, and so they are quite close to my heart ❤
Haunted Houses- a book that scared you silly!
I don’t tend to read scary books, but I guess I have read some thrilling books that have left me on edge and crying my heart out ❤ One particularly amazing book is Tease by Amanda Maciel – this is basically from the perspective of a bully after a teenage girl kills herself, and there in an inquest. It is about what she feels and how she deals with the aftermath. It is told in a dual narrative between flashbacks and present-day. It almost scares me to think that this book is based off a real story, too! 😮
Pumpkin Patches- the latest book you bought!
Again, I bought ‘The List’ by Siobhan Vivian most recently ❤ Looking forward to that book 😉 But I recently took out ‘Allegiant’ from the library (finally, I hear you cry!) as well as ‘Asking For It’ by Louise O’Neill and … I also popped into Waterstone’s yesterday and bought these beautiful badges ❤ I’m currently looking to buy a book-themed tote bag to pin them on! ❤ Recommendations would be SO helpful!
Scenic Drives- a book that is lyrically beautiful!
10000% The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E Smith ❤ ❤ Surely by now you all must know just how much I love this book! I’m just going to share some of the quotes to illustrate the point that YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK! ❤ The movie will be coming out next year and I cannot wait!! ❤ ❤
“It’s not the changes that will break your heart; it’s that tug of familiarity.”
“He’s like a song she can’t get out of her head. Hard as she tries, the melody of their meeting runs through her mind on an endless loop, each time as surprisingly sweet as the last, like a lullaby, like a hymn, and she doesn’t think she could ever get tired of hearing it.”
“Love is the strangest, most illogical thing in the world.”
I can’t believe you’re here,” she says, her voice soft. “I can’t believe you found me.”
“You found me first,” he says, and when he leans to kiss her, it’s slow and sweet and she knows that this will be the one she always remembers. Because while the other two kisses felt like endings, this one is unquestionably a beginning.”
“Is it possible not to ever know your type – not to even know you have a type – until quite suddenly you do?”
“People who meet in airports are seventy-two percent more likely to fall for each other than people who meet anywhere else.”
“That’s the thing about flying: You could talk to someone for hours and never even know his name, share your deepest secrets and then never see them again.”
“But Hadley understood. It wasn’t that she was meant to read them all. Maybe someday she would, but for now, it was more the gesture itself. He was giving her the most important thing he could, the only way he knew how. He was a professor, a lover of stories, and he was building her a library in the same way other men might build their daughters houses.”
“But just as she turns to walk away she hears him behind her, the word like the opening of some door, like an ending and a beginning, like a wish.
“Wait,” he says, and so she does.”
“People talk about books being an escape…this one feels more like a lifeline.”
I’m so sorry about how overboard I went with these quotes, but this book as absolutely packed with AMAZING quotes ❤ ❤ 😀 I just love love love this book so much !! ❤
Pumpkin Carving- a book you didn’t like and wouldn’t mind carving up!
It generally takes a particularly bad book (in my opinion) for me to truly resent it. For that reason, I don’t think I can actually say anything in this part. There are, however, a few books that I just really could not get myself into:
- If I Stay by Gayle Forman
- What I Was by Meg Rosoff
- Falling by Sharon Dogar
Sorry if you enjoyed any of these!
Hiking – a book that was a highly enjoyable romp!
Boy, was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire a LONG book! It took me days to read due to the sheer length of it! But it was BY FAR my favourite Harry Potter book to date ❤ My emotions were completely exhausted by the end of it, but I wouldn’t change that feeling for anything in the world! 😀
Drinking Apple Cider- a sweet book to cuddle under the covers with!
‘Attachments’ by Rainbow Rowell – God, I loved this book! The friendship between Beth and Jennifer was amazing! 😀 They had me in stitches throughout. Another thing I love about this book was the format: I know some people absolutely hate the email/letter format thing (aka. contemporary epistolary), but it is something I have loved since day 1! ❤ The first book I read in that format was ‘Boy Meets Girl’ by Meg Cabot – another office romance told through letters, emails, and notes! I highly recommend that book too! I truly have fallen in love with this format ❤
Anyway, back to Attachments! Lincoln was truly a good guy, hence the reason why he did the right thing in the end! He was truly lovely and I loved how his world collided with Beth’s in a strange twist of fate – as well as when he was helping out Jennifer. Although we never truly meet Mitch, I thought he was wonderful for Jennifer! And please tell me I’m not the only one who HATED Beth’s boyfriend! 😦 The book ended in the PERFECT way and it left me squealing with joy! ❤
Jumping in a Leaf Pile – a book that reminds you of your childhood!
This question is quite difficult as I wouldn’t consider myself to be an adult quite yet, but if we are referring to my early years, I think I would have to say that the entire Paddington Bear series! ❤ I used to watch all the tv shows and movies, but being read those books were one of the highlights of my childhood. My grandma recently bought me the entire collection with the edges lined in gold! It is truly something special that I will keep with me to cherish the memories!
Well, guys, I hope you enjoyed this fun tag! I certainly did 🙂 Thanks for the nomination, notsomoderngirl! 😀
See you guys again soon!
I have always been interested in creating original content for my blog, so I thought – what better way to do this than to create my own tag? I have very recently started using Canva to design my graphics (it’s absolutely brilliant, I thoroughly recommend!) and designed that I would create a little logo for my tag. The whole idea stemmed from the fact that I love to read and listen to music, two things that I feel have a very strong and similar relationship.
At the bottom of my recent 50 followers post, I asked my followers to suggest some ideas that I could put into the tag, combining them with my own. I have been absolutely overflowing with ideas, so many that I think I’m going to have to split this up into 3 parts. I will be crediting any suggestions that I was given with links to the blogs of these wonderful people.
I’m going to provide my own examples as a little guide and inspiration next to the questions.
I really hope you enjoy this tag because I have worked for HOURS on perfecting it!
- Answer as many or as few questions that you like. I suggest if you want to attempt them all that you turn it into a few daily/weekly posts, probably organised as I have. Make sure you have fun with it!
- Thank the person who nominated you and leave a link to their post.
- Leave a link to my post so that others can see all of the questions! 🙂
- Tag the post with the tagline ‘The Reader’s Playlist Tag’ so that I can see all of your lovely posts! ❤
- Use the logo as above in your post if you want! However, I ask that you don’t modify it, please!
- Tag a few friends to take part in the tag at the bottom of your post! 😀
- Feel free to leave a link in my comments to your own responses. I look forward to reading them!
I was tagged by the lovely Megan @ bookslayerReads to do this tag! Megan’s blog is so bright and colourful and just wonderful. She just received 500 followers which she thoroughly deserves – please go and check her blog out if you can, it is well worth it, especially for the obsessive book lover like me! ❤ She has some really awesome posts and has new things planned for the future of her blog! I wish you all the best, Megan 🙂
Let’s get into the tag questions! ❤
The Secret Life of a Book Blogger (Tag)
WHAT IS THE BEST PART?
My favourite part of blogging I think is the experience of crafting something and pouring effort into something, then to get such a lovely response from the blogging community. It really does make me smile to know that people agree with my thoughts, or that my work made someone smile today. That’s what it’s all about for me. 😀
Another element I love is the fact that in 10 years I can look back on all my blogs and remember those key dates in detail – but I can also see how far I have progressed and grown – it’s like a diary for all to share and enjoy! 🙂 My little labour of love ❤
WHAT IS THE WORST PART?
Possibly the fact that I just don’t have the necessary time to do all that I want with blogging. I wish I had enough time to take more photos and edit and make little videos but this year has been busy. I just haven’t been able to, and it makes me sad sometimes. 😦
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO FIND/CREATE PICTURES TO USE?
I have just started using a website called Canva to design headings for my blog posts, but normally I will use some photos of my own for posts, as I tend to have stocked up a lot of photos that are related to what I post on my camera or phone. Sometimes I have to prepare some new pictures, but generally, that does not take too long, just set up, capturing the picture then editing it.
A typical stocked up book picture:
WHO’S YOUR BOOK CRUSH?
This is literally one of the hardest questions you could ever ask me! I literally cannot choose one! I did a Bookstagram Post about which literary boys I would Kiss, Kill & Marry, so I think I might include the (very lengthy) caption and the photo below to explain! ❤
Taken from Instagram:
Day 19 of 31: Kiss 😘 Kill🔫 Marry 💍 I couldn’t choose between all the literary guys, so I picked two for each category 😂 I would like to marry Four of Divergent but Tris would definitely beat me up so I chose to kiss and run 😂 I would kiss Oliver of TSPOLAFS because he IS extremely sweet, but due to the short length of the book and also the minuses of long distance, I would have to settle with kiss 😂😘 I would kill Gale (not Peeta ❤) of the Hunger Games, because firstly, nothing gets in the way of my ship, and secondly, he is quite self-centred – one of the worst traits possible in my books! I would also kill Adam from If I stay because he is one of the most unromantic, unnerving fictional boyfriends. I know people will hate this – but I didn’t like the book and I didn’t like Adam 👎🏻 I love the idea of a musical guy but he just didn’t attract me 🎶😞 Next, I would marry Harry Potter – because why on earth wouldn’t you?? He’s smart, he’s a wizard, he’s funny and he’s sensitive!!! 😍❤✨ I would also marry Jase Garrett from My Life Next Door because he is upfront and honest, helpful, romantic, funny and not a bad guy with good heart! He is exactly what you see, you can take him at face value (as he always says 😉) ✨❤
Today’s blog is going to be the 25 Question Tag, started by Ann, which was derived from a 100 Questions post she found on Facebook. You guys should go check her blog out, it’s awesome! 🙂
Below I will include all of the 100 questions so you can select 25 of your choice for the tag. I tag anyone who wants to do this to do it, please let me know if you do end up doing it, I would love to read your own posts and find out a little more about you!
1 Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotels?
Yes, 100%. If I were to use them during my stay, they would just replace them for the next person, so what’s wrong with grabbing some travel size bottles for other, less luxurious accommodations? I also take little tea and sugar sachets (mostly for my Type 1 diabetic dad). Let me know if you think this is wrong, if so, I’m sorry 😦
2 Do you like to use post-it notes?
Yes. If you give me post-it notes, I might go a little bit crazy using them. I once got this set of flowery post-it notes and I used them for pretty much everything. I am stationary mad!
3 Do you always smile for pictures?
Pretty much. I can’t really pull off the pout/not smiling face. Why not look happy in a picture?
4 What is your Song of the Week?
Everglow by Coldplay – sheer musical perfection! Or maybe A Head Full Of Dreams, also by Coldplay! ❤
5 Tea or coffee?
Tea! Iced Tea, Peppermint Tea, Normal Tea, Black Lipton Tea! I do like a frappe or a latte but not straight coffee! 😛
6 What do you dip a chicken nugget in?
Ketchup – I don’t really like mayonnaise, brown sauce, barbecue sauce or mustard. Only ketchup (or as my Aussie family insist on calling it ‘tomato sauce!’)
7 What is your favorite food?
I don’t even know. Probably pizza or something else Italian, like gnocchi or lasagna or something. Or maybe burgers and chips. Or bangers and mash. Or tortilla chicken wraps.Or ice-cream. Or maybe strawberry cheesecake (mmm!) I just love food, you can’t make me choose a favourite!
8 What movies could you watch over and over and still love?
Music and Lyrics, Clueless, A Cinderella Story, About Time, Enchanted, Beauty and the Beast, Blended and He’s Just Not That Into You
9 When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper?
I wrote a letter to one of my good friends, Gabrielle, to thank her for her constant support and to tell her I would miss her when she went to her new sixth form. That must have been about 3 to 4 months ago.
10 Best thing to eat for breakfast?
Continental breakfast all the way! Ideal breakfast is waffles/scotch pancakes with maple syrup or Nutella, a blueberry muffin, a mini flapjack slice, a glass of fruit juice and lemon curd/blueberry yoghurt.
11 Do you sing in the car?
My dad, my sister and I are ALWAYS singing in the car, especially on long journeys. We all go to a choir, and we sing everything from The Beatles to Queen to Lawson. Sometimes dad even sings Taylor Swift and Jess Glynne with me and my sister!
12 Do you sing in the shower?
I just LOVE singing – what do you expect? Whilst I’m showering I almost always have a playlist on and am singing along! #noshame
13 Do you think musicals are cheesy?
I think they can be, but it doesn’t stop me loving them. I’ve been in 2 musicals (High School Musical: On Stage and We Will Rock You!) so far in school, with another in progress (Hairspray).
14 DJ or band, at a wedding?
Band – I love live music! The band at my cousin’s wedding were absolutely brilliant – when you can get good performers it makes all the difference!
15 Which are better: black or green olives?
None! I absolutely detest olives whereas my sister, dad, and mum all like them. I’m often the black sheep of the family, but I don’t mind!
16 Can you knit or crochet?
My grandma taught me how to knit at a very young age. I have made little blankets for my sister’s dolls in the past, but I don’t tend to knit much anymore, though I still know how.
17 Best room for a fireplace?
Living room – cosy, warm, family room where you can sit on the sofa and cuddle. Ideally under a mantlepiece!
18 Do you want to get married?
Yes, I do at some point, but I doubt it will be for another 10+ years! We’ll have to see!
19 Do you cry and throw a fit until you get your own way?
No! Goodness me, people like that infuriate me – you have to understand that things won’t always go your way or you’ll never get anywhere! It can be hard sometimes but you just learn to accept it.
20 What’s your favorite colour?
Sky blue! There are few things I love more than a beautiful blue sky with a few fluffy clouds and the sunshine bringing warmth to my skin. Heavenly… 🙂 ❤
21 Do you miss anyone right now?
I miss the people I have lost, three of my grandparents and a cousin. I miss them every single day but I pray that they are in a better place and I will someday meet them again ❤
22 Nike or Adidas?
Not faffed, to be honest. I’m not a big fan of branding and labels – the only Nike/Adidas items in the house belong to my sister, not me! :p
23 Can you curl your tongue?
No, I cannot! 😦 Other than my dad, everyone else in my family can, and this enables them to be able to blow bubbles with gum, which I cannot do 😥
24 Own any record albums?
I don’t own any, but my dad has some – he has all the oldies, like Electric Light Orchestra (love them!), Queen (legends!) and various others. We dug them out of the garage the other day!
25 Own a record player?
Again, it is owned by my dad, but it isn’t currently working – we need a replacement stylus, but once we get that we’ll be happily playing records again.
BONUS QUESTION: Who would you like to see in concert?
Lawson (hopefully this will be soon!), Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Jess Glynne, Bastille, Justin Timberlake, McFly or The Script.
Well, that was the 25 Questions Tag! What surprised you the most? Comment down below!
Looking forward to your responses!
